About The Stone

Black Gold Libyan Desert Glass is a rare variety of natural silica glass formed approximately 29 million years ago in the Sahara Desert. Most scientists believe it was created by an intense heat event — possibly a meteor airburst — that melted desert sand and rapidly cooled it into glass.

Compared to the classic golden variety, Black Gold Libyan Desert Glass carries deeper tones created by natural mineral impurities and environmental processes that occurred after formation.

Energy & Symbolism

In contemporary mineral symbolism, Libyan Desert Glass is often regarded as a high-frequency stone associated with manifestation, direction, and decisive action.

Many people are drawn to it during moments when intentions begin to take shape. Its strong solar plexus symbolism reflects focus, momentum, and the ability to channel energy toward a clear goal.

The deeper golden tones of the black gold variety are often interpreted as grounding strength — a reminder to stay aligned with one’s intentions while maintaining clear personal boundaries. Libyan Desert Glass is often perceived by some collectors as a “stone of manifestation” — one that often appears during periods of strong intention and forward movement.
